Are Botox Injections Right For You?
Botox Can Be The Answer To A Younger You!

BOTOX® injections are becoming increasingly popular for women who want to reduce wrinkles and signs of aging.  Botox can be used to smooth wrinkles in the neck and face, or remove wrinkles around the eyes. It can also be used in other areas, such as the chin and jaw.

Botox works through an injection of botulinum, which is a purified toxin created from botulism bacteria. This injection temporarily paralyzes facial nerves so that the facial muscles cannot contract. This means the area being treated will be free of wrinkles. Botox is also used to decrease sweating or treat migraine headaches.

The following information will be useful for a basic understanding of the treatment and what to expect from it. For more detailed information, consult your doctor or surgeon.

Information about Botox treatments

Botox treatments are usually simple and brief. The skin receives a topical numbing treatment, and small amounts of Botox are injected into different parts of the face. The injections are done with tiny needles for minimal pain. Botox treatments are quick—they usually take ten to thirty minutes. The treatments are performed at the doctor’s office or in a surgical suite. The treatment itself has minimal discomfort, and the needles are likened to an insect bite.

Recovery and Results

The results of Botox are visible typically within three to five days. The treatment results typically last four to six months.

Minor reactions that occur after Botox treatments are mild bruising at the site of the injection, brief headaches, or drooping of the eyelids. All these reactions are temporary; the longest they will last is two to three weeks.

After returning to work or home after the procedure, make sure to keep the head upright to avoid Botox from seeping into unwanted areas. Do not massage the treated area.

Ideal Candidates for Botox

Patients with wrinkles in the face or neck are ideal candidates for Botox treatments. Patients should ideally be knowledgeable about the procedure, in good psychological and physical health, and realistic in their expectations. Patients should not be using marijuana, steroids, or too much alcohol.

Also try to ask your surgeon if he or she thinks you are an appropriate candidate for this surgery. Also, try to remember to be realistic in your expectations when undergoing surgery. Although Botox can help minimize wrinkles in your face, it will not transform your face into your ideal or make others treat you differently. Discuss expectations with your surgeon or doctor before undergoing Botox treatments.
